President, 2012: MARSHA SHEAHEN
Marsha has over 25 years of experience in workplace learning, with a focus on hi-tech companies. Currently, Marsha is the Director of Training at AeroScout, responsible for customer training programs as well as AeroScout employee development and on-boarding.
Marsha joined ASTD Golden Gate Chapter in 2002, and has served on the Board of Directors since then. Most recently, she has worked with the Board to rewrite the chapter's by-laws, which had not been updated since 1976, and created the Board position of National Liaison Officer to ensure continuity between Golden Gate Chapter and ASTD National. CFO, 2012: KEVIN TRAVIS
Kevin has been involved in the learning and development profession for more than 25 years, with experience in the hi-tech, financial services, and government sectors. Kevin has an extensive background in technology training and the assessment and implementation of technology solutions (such as LMSs, LCMSs, Virtual Learning platforms, etc.) to maximize strategic learning and development business objectives. Kevin has managed the instruction design, delivery, and technology systems for customer for profit training and internal learning and performance. Kevin is currently a Sr. Project Manager with Apple.
Kevin has been a member of ASTD National for 12 years, and a member of ASTD Golden Gate since 2009. Kevin has served on the ASTD Golden Gate BOD for three years in the capacity of the National Liaison and Compliance Coordinator. He is currently the Chapter's CFO and is focused on improving the accounting principals, chart of accounts, reporting, and tax preparation.

Secretary, 2012: DIANE VORNOLI
Diane joined the ASTD Board as secretary in 2009 and brings over 29 years experience in consumer goods and most recently healthcare. She has been in training and development for over 12 years, specializing in helping organizations achieve goals by improving on-the-job performance for Fortune 100, 500, privately owned, and non-profit companies. She is a certified professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) with expertise in project management, instructional design, facilitation and training delivery, coaching, and achieving cost savings through effective learning and performance interventions.
She is currently working in health care for hospice, and is enjoying making a difference in the lives of people who care for those at the end of life’s journey. Contact Diane at

Vice President, Membership, 2012: BRUCE GROSS
Bruce joined the Chapter in July 2010 and after attending the Instructional Design Class joined the COP and volunteered to be the Outreach Manager. He then joined the 3D Learning and Training SIG in November, 2010.
He has been working at WORLDPAC in the HR department since July 2001. He joined the WORLDPAC University team in March of 2008, continuing his monthly training sessions while expanding his responsibilities to include administering WORLDPAC's Learning Management System (LMS) domain, generating compliance reporting, and assisting with the organization and facilitation of the Business Leadership Program (BLP) and WORLDPAC Leadership Program (ELP) and created the Emerging Leadership Program (ELP).
Prior to WORLDPAC, Bruce managed the interviewing/onboarding process for a Bay area temp agency and owned/managed his own business for 14 years in Ohio.

Vice President, Communications, 2012: PI WEN LOOI
Pi Wen is the founder of Novacrea Research Consulting, a talent management consulting firm that specializes in employee survey design, execution, and action-planning facilitation.
Pi Wen believes that effective employee surveys don't have to be long or boring. In fact, she's certain of it. She has more than 15 years of experience in talent management consulting and is passionate about design thinking and clear and people-friendly communication. She integrates right- and left-brain approaches to help her clients energize their employees. She is a proven expert in employee survey design, employee engagement, and meeting facilitation. Her clients have included Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and Bay Area businesses.
In addition, Pi Wen is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Prior to founding Novacrea, she worked at Hewitt Associates (now Aon Hewitt). She consulted with clients on employee engagement and collaborated with project managers in Asia Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, and North America to facilitate learning and ensure clear communications. Her experience working with employees worldwide honed her facilitation skills and deepened her understanding of the nuances of communication styles across cultures-skills essential to today's multicultural business environment.
Pi Wen received her Ph.D. and master's degrees in applied quantitative psychology from Ohio University and her B.S. in mathematics from the National University of Singapore. In her free time, she enjoys taking photos of people and abstract forms, and practicing yoga to calm her active mind.

Vice President, Technology 2012: CHERYL HALL
Cheryl came late to the learning and development field. For 25 years, she worked in Supply Chain Management and Process Improvement for Intel Corporation. Her interest in helping people get better at what they do led her to a second career in learning and organizational development. Cheryl currently works for Constellation Wines U.S. She has used her familiarity with technology to design and build online and mobile wine education for Constellation’s sales force. Most recently, she has moved to more traditional training and development as well as LMS administration for Constellation.

Co-Vice President, Programs, 2012: LAURA PUTNAM
Laura Putnam is the Founder and CEO of Motion Infusion, Inc., a wellness and learning consulting firm. Drawing on her background in education, public policy, competitive athletics, professional dance and wellness, Laura utilizes a movement-based approach to facilitate learning, promote well-being and bring a complete mind/body approach to the workplace. In addition to providing services for companies and organizations, she leads international teacher-training workshops, primarily in Africa. Before founding Motion Infusion, Inc., Laura taught in urban public high schools, spearheaded community development work in West Africa, served as executive director of a youth-leadership organization and was a staff member of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee in Washington D.C. Laura also was a nationally competitive collegiate gymnast, a professional dancer and is a certified Pilates and fitness instructor.
Laura holds a Bachelor's degree from Stanford University in International Relations and a Masters in Education from Brown University.

Vice President, Professional Development, 2012: TERRY BARTON
Terry has been a chapter member since 2003 and a board member since 2006. Terry looks forward to continuing her role as VP, Professional Development! Participating as an ASTD Golden Gate member and serving on the Board of Directors has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience both personally and professionally.
Terry brings over 20 years of Management and Organizational Development experience to the chapter. She has held management positions in the retail, container shipping and bio-tech industries and is the founding member and principal consultant of The Barton Group, a Bay Area management consulting firm specializing in Group Facilitation and Performance Management. Terry holds a Master of Science degree in Management and Organizational Development, which she earned from the University of San Francisco and is an Adjunct Faculty member at Chabot College.
Terry is an active member of several community groups and is a contributing author in the book
Savvy Leadership Strategies for Women.

National Liaison Officer, 2012: JOHN DARLING John was the Vice President of Communications for our chapter in 2005. He renewed his commitment to serve the Golden Gate Chapter in 2006 in the capacity of Vice President of Special Interest Groups, and is now the National Liaison overseeing the chapter's CORE Compliance and other National-Chapter issues.
As a principal and co-founder of Q2Learning, a company that specializes in blended learning and communities of practice, John brings with him many years of experience in the art and practice of social networking and online collaboration. John is looking forward to building upon the already good work we are doing in this important facet of our services to our membership.
