Are you wondering how to get started posting training on YouTube? Maybe you’re thinking…I’m not a techie… I really don’t know what to do. Where do I start? I don’t have a lot of money… I don’t have a lot of experience… I’m just not really sure what to do. Ryan Perry, owner/ operator of Simple Biz Support has answers to all of these questions and more.

According to the results of the 6th Annual Learning Tools Survey compiled by the Center for Learning and Performance Technologies (Oct. 2012) YouTube ranks #2 out of 25 learning tools for creating and delivering content.

Setting up a YouTube Channel is easy to do. Designing a YouTube Channel to suit your training/business needs takes more thought and consideration. Besides just having a place for your video to reside, there is the video itself to consider…what types of equipment are recommended for creating professional training videos?

In this brief and informative presentation, Ryan will answer some basic questions about using YouTube and choosing video equipment:

What's the minimum I need to get started?
How can I create a channel?
How should I organize my YouTube page?
What are the Do's & Don'ts when creating a channel?
How can I choose the best camcorder and microphone?
What are some ways to promote my channel?
Are there ways to track usage of my videos?

For the last 4 years, Ryan Perry has been working with small business owners and helping them to promote their businesses on the Internet using free and low cost tools. His company, Simple Biz Support, is based in Santa Rosa California.

Simple Biz Support provides Internet marketing programs for small businesses using Internet Marketing (Social Marketing) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies. Ryan consults with small local businesses and shows them ways to earn top ranking with Google and other search engines in their local markets.

Whether it is called “flipping the classroom”,"flipped training” or simply “the flip method”, curiosity about this new model for delivering training is appearing everywhere. Early adopters are enthusiastic and initial reports of effectiveness are encouraging. And just like any new concept the misconceptions, confusion about what it really is, when it is applicable and the usual uneven implementation experiences exist. This is your opportunity to develop a foundation about this method to understand if it would be a fit for your training repertoire or your organization’s training strategy for either ILT or e-learning.

Join us as we explore the current state of “flipping” and its impact on the learning process. While being applied creatively in K-12 and higher education settings, both in the classroom and online, there are many questions about how the model applies to workplace learning. Before starting down the path of this potentially effective model now is the time to first understand the conditions that promote success, the tools and skills needed for effective design and how to evaluate readiness for implementation. This “look before you leap” session can provide you with a foundation for progressing in a direction and at a pace that fits you, your learners and your organization.

At the end of this session you will be able to:

Define “flipped training” as it applies to workplace learning.
Understand “flipping’s” relationship to adult learning principles.
Determine the most conducive learning cultures and learning environments for its use.
Differentiate “flipping” from assigning pre-work, project learning, blended learning, edutainment, gamification and other action learning methods.
Review examples for both ILT and e-learning delivery.
Know the developer/trainer skills and tools required to be effective.
Find free resources to learn more and to practice developing your own skills.

PRESENTER:

Paul Anjeski’s career of over 25 years has covered the release and initial implementation of a wide range of learning theories, methods and delivery tools. As a trainer, instructional designer, program/project manager or consultant he has led the initial implementation of “new” concepts including: synchronous distributed learning, asynchronous distributed learning, blended learning, project-based learning, subscription learning and now the “flipped” method to name a few.

With both rousing successes as well as disappointing failures he brings “real-world” lessons learned to his work along with an understanding of the importance of organization culture and systems to the change process. Valued for his skills in the development and delivery of “train the trainer” programs Paul brings passion and vitality to his presentations.

As a lifelong learner he remains current in workplace learning principles and practices as a National ASTD member actively involved in the Human Capital, Workforce Development, Learning & Development and Learning Technologies, communities of practice. He is a longtime member of the planning committee for the University of Wisconsin Annual Conference on Distance Teaching and Learning. He serves on the Board of the ASTD Golden Gate Chapter.
