COP OVERVIEW: COP's Core Team

Kris ShaefferKris Schaeffer heads up COP's Outreach team and developed COP's in-service training program -- Conducting the Performance Analysis Interview and Training Design & Delivery. She mentors COP volunteers by serving as the lead coordinator on projects.

Kris has a long-term commitment to community service and was a founder of the chapter's Community Training & Development Project 30 years ago. She has a very comprehensive consulting practice that uses her expertise in strategic human resource planning, competency analysis, development of HR systems, and designing training programs. The primary application of her work is on helping organizations improve their interface with customers. Kris's clients include Fortune 100 companies in consumer goods, video/voice/data, hi tech, and financial services. She also consults to the presidents of start-up companies.

When she's not working for nonprofits and her consulting practice, Kris can be found in her garden dreaming of her next trip or playing tennis.

Jim CharlsworthJim Charlesworth is the Communications Manager for COP. He is responsible to keep our various communities informed about COP outreach developments and successes. His partnership with our corporate sponsors builds relationships that foster collaboration and generates resources to support Bay Area non-profits.

Jim has extensive experience as Training Manager for multi-site organizations, especially in designing and delivering "relationship selling", customer service, and leadership skills. He has worked in academic and financial services industries, and develops strategies for integrating instructor-led and online learning. Nationally, Jim founded a complementary-healthcare program for a non-profit organization providing stress reduction to rescue workers at national disasters; his program has been implemented in 30 States.

Jenny NiecJenny Niec is the Volunteer Manager for the ASTD Community Outreach Program. She works as the Training Manager for LiteracyPro Systems, Inc., which provides data management solutions for adult literacy, adult education and family literacy providers. She has 13 years of training and teaching experience, and has volunteea83c0f for adult literacy programs in Indiana and California. dianevormioliDiane Vornoli, our COP Program Manager, has 27 years of experience as a line manager in major consumer goods manufacturing companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Dole Foods, and Clorox. In that capacity, Diane was the client of trainers and training programs. In her professional capacity, Diane was a strong advocate of training for her staff and was, herself, a coach and trainer. For the past 3 1/2 years, Diane has had direct responsibility for the planning, design, development, and delivery of training programs supporting manufacturing which have provided her with the practical experience of knowing what actually works on the factory floor.

Janet BaileyTeam member-at-large Janet Bailey trains and coaches organizations in business writing skills. Drawing on her years of experience as a corporate writer and journalist, she helps employees increase productivity and credibility by improving the clarity, conciseness and tone of their emails, reports and other written communication. Janet is also author of The Great San Francisco Trivia & Fact Book, called "addictive" by Sunset Magazine.

Why COP? "It's a way to use my professional skills to be of service. And the COP volunteers are a great group of people to work with -- talented, dedicated, and fun."
